On Thursday, July 1, 2021, on the premises of the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia, a meeting of representatives of the Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT Serbia) with key actors in Serbian tourism was held. The key actors in Serbian tourism were acquainted with the goals of the Institute, as well as upcoming activities. The importance of the term “peace” and the understanding of the broader context of peace in relation to tourism, as the most important global industry, was especially emphasized. It was pointed out that the upcoming activities of IIPT Serbia will be especially focused on the establishment of peace parks in Serbia, in accordance with the project of the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT), as well as on organizing competitions in writing student papers related to the areas of activities of the Institute. Special attention will be paid to the realization of the Institute’s partnerships with key stakeholders and institutions, and especially with higher education institutions.
Wide support was provided to the establishment of the Institute, both to the idea and the planned activities. Representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, the Tourist Organization of Serbia, the National Association of Tourist Agencies of Serbia (YUTA), the Business Association of Hotel and Catering Industry of Serbia (HORES), the Tourist Organization of Belgrade, and other key actors in Serbian tourism expressed their support during the meeting.
