The Institute for Peace through Tourism – IIPT Chapter Serbia, as part of the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT), actively participated in the celebration of World Peace Day (September 21) and World Tourism Day (September 27) 2024, through a series of lectures at important conferences and events aimed at promoting peace through tourism.
Prof. Dr. Danijel Pavlović, Secretary General of IMIT and Director of the Academy of Hospitality, Tourism, and Wellness, Belgrade, played a significant role as a lecturer and panelist at several international events:
Forum “Tourism and Peace,” Travnik, September 26, 2024.
Danijel Pavlović participated as a panelist at the event “Day(s) of Tourism in Travnik,” held to celebrate World Tourism Day. On the panel “Tourism and Peace,” he spoke about key aspects of tourism as a bridge for strengthening peace, dialogue, and understanding among peoples. He emphasized the importance of tourism as a catalyst for peace in conflict-affected societies and on a global level, particularly considering the regional specificities of tourism and relationships among the nations of the Balkans.
Online Lecture at the Academic Council of t+he Sultans Trail, “Close Encounters of East and West,” September 26, 2024.
The Secretary General of IMIT delivered a lecture titled “Building Peace Through Tourism” during the celebration of World Tourism Day at an online gathering organized by the Academic Council of the Sultans Trail. Throughout the lecture, he highlighted the potential of tourism to bridge cultural and historical divides, its role in achieving peace, and the necessity of promoting tourism and travel as a means to attain peace. The role of the Institute and its activities in spreading the idea of peace through tourism was particularly emphasized.

As a keynote speaker at the conference and session titled “Tourism as a Bridge of Peace, Dialogue, and Community for Sustainable Development,” Danijel Pavlović presented on the topic “Building Peace Through Tourism – Bridging Divides Through Tourism: Exploring Tourism’s Potential for Promoting Peace and Understanding.” In his presentation, he underscored the role of tourism as a catalyst for sustainable development, connecting people of different cultures and faiths, and strengthening communities in the process of building peace, with special reference to the contributions of tourism and travel in fostering knowledge of peoples, understanding cultures, religions, and mutual building of understanding.
The Institute for Peace through Tourism – IIPT Chapter Serbia, through activities like these, continues its commitment to spreading a culture of peace through tourism and promoting dialogue and understanding among nations. These events highlight the significance of tourism not only as an economic activity but also as a tool for enhancing global harmony and sustainability.
