On October 1st, the third IIPT Peace Park in Serbia was officially declared in Čačak. It includes the area Memorial Park of the Struggle and Victory, which is dedicated to soldiers and civilians who died during the battles for liberation in World War II. The park includes the megaron and the dolmen, which are impressive works by the architect Bogdan Bogdanović.
During the ceremony, speeches were made by Dr. Slavica Dragutinović, city councilwoman, mr. Katarina Grujović Brković, director of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments from Kraljevo, Dr. Olgica Miljković, head of the Department for Development of Tourism Offer of the National Tourism Organization of Serbia and Dr. Jovan Popesku, president of the Institute for Peace Through Tourism (IIPT Serbia). Students and professors of the Music School “Dr. Vojislav Vučković” from Čačak also participated in the ceremony.
Aleksandar Kaplanović, City councilor for youth, sports and tourism, Gordana Majstorović from the Tourism Organization of Čačak, as well as Dr. Jovan Popesku, president of IIPT Serbia unveiled a commemorative plaque, after which they planted three trees as symbols of peace.
We expect that the next IIPT Peace Parks in Serbia will be announced during October and November.
